CHANGE LIVING
A PHOTOGRAPHER’S HOME
Photographer Harmit Singh’s new home designed by SIGNA DESIGN embodies the idea of continuos change. As a photographer he is used various props and backgrounds which change with each shot, also as a photographer he is used to working with a lot of color and light. SIGNA DESIGN’s idea was to design a house which infuses this philosophy. This open plan house features moving wall panels in the dining space, ‘ART’ wall in lieu of a partition and a full customizable lighting solution. ‘India Modern’ features are incorporated include hand stitched quilt style faux leather wardrobe panels motif etched with peacock feather in the master bedroom or hand stitched faux leather on the dining table. The house gives the owner a sense of freedom to change visual references by moving the panels, adding or removing art work or simply by changing the lighting settings.
LIVING SPACE
Custom sofa coupled with ‘Art’ Wall’ is the essence of the living area.
ART WALL PARTITION
This custom wall partition features slots which can accommodate the Harmit’s favorite photographs and can be changed to simple panels of leather, glass or steel as desired.
RESTORATION
The family’s heirloom (an upright piano) was restored with a high gloss lacquer with CNC cut acrylic backing.
TV CONSOLE
The TV Console is anchored on smoke colored glass & houses all the wiring for the Wi Fi, Telephone & Satellite TV
MOVING DISPLAY WALL PANELS FOR THE DINING AREA
Both the sides of the dining table include custom moving wall display panels which can be moved and locked as desired by the client. This panel required some extensive engineering coupled with new way of applying 3D edges. These walls are anchored to the wall and move on castors. Since the client is a photographer the designed offer him the ability to transform the space akin to a photography studio was the reasoning behind this idea. All lights including color changing LEDs and other lighting are completely at the control of the client to allow for further transformation as and when desired. The dining table is ‘Signa’ interpretation of the ‘Barcelona’ Chair and features a hand stitched faux leather top.
MASTER BEDROOM
The bed is tucked away in one corner which has a great green view from the bed. The bed is hand stitched faux leather with storage units both below the bed and behind the head board. The wardrobe features a custom glass panel with black back painted glass with silver peacock feature etching. The bedroom has a distinct Zen feel.
BEDROOM ONE
This bedroom belong to their daughter who is a budding fashion designer. The wardrobe panels feature a hand stitched faux leather mimicking the traditional quilting techniques used in rural India. All lighting is controllable for various effects ranging from cozy, study time or party time.
KITCHEN
The modular kitchen manufactured by ‘SIGNA Design’ features a toughened glass countertop and some of the Harmit’s photographs printed on laminated glass as the kitchen dado.
BALCONY BAR
The bar is a restored teak wood bar made in Bali. The traditional wooden bar was treated with white lacquer, steel ribbing and glass panel counter top.
